Thanks PA. I mentioned in my follow-up post that I had
no idea what the cause of the problem was- or the right NG
to ask about it!
To update the situation: I tried again this morning, and the
exception "error" didn't happen. But it still took a long time to
install, and I waited 30 minutes after it appeared done before
I exited/closed the installation window. (So the installation
still didn't complete, and it still shows I have the critical update
to install when I go to Windows Update.)
Can anyone here help me with this Framework Service Pack
update? Is it even necessary for Windows 98? (Yes, I'm waiting
for a new PC before I upgrade- esp. with all the upcoming changes
planned & problems I've heard with XP.
