AFAIK, there is no way to downgrade an X51 back to WM2003SE. I don't know
about other "native" WM5 machines, but I think you'll find that to be the
case with all of them.
You could try finding some X50's instead, which will let you run the AS3.8.
If you want to get the old WM2003 version of the ActiveSync
application/dll's, I'd try one of those units (just because they'll be the
closest fit to the X51 hardware-wise). Check out the
www.aximsite.com for
an active user group that may be able to find what you're looking for.
I suspect (but don't know) that you'll spend more time and effort getting
the downgrade to work than you will getting your file sync'ing to work
properly. And even if you get it to work, it may well cause you more grief
in the end. Have you tested your sync'ing in a non-emulated environment?
