I haven't a clue what Danny is talking about, but 2008 absolutely does
support DFS and DFS-R, R2 is not needed.

With Win 2k3 R2 each member of the replication group needs to be at the R2
level. I was suggesting the OP check to make sure Win 2k8 does not have the
same requierments.

2008 has no such requirement and fully supports DFS and DFS-R.

Thanks for the info. I kind of figured it was that way but I wasn't sure.
