You would manually create a hostname entry.

If DHCP is set to register all hosts whether they can or not, and if the switch's configuration settings allow you to specify a DNS address, then you can simply and only use the internal DNS. It may and should work. But there's more to it on the DHCP side, including scavenging and DHCP owndership of records. I can post that for you, but this is beyond the scope of your question.
