MSCONFIG is better to use than any third-party software, Windows
Defender or delving into the registry.

All you need to do to access MSCONFIG is to click on the start menu,
and type msconfig into the search bar at the bottom, wait a few seconds
then press enter on the keyboard.

Click on the services tab and make sure you check the option "hide all
Microsoft services" before un-checking any of the services.

Click on the startup tab, also. Be mindful on any antivirus programs
listed and do not uncheck them unless you do not want them to launch
with Windows, which I highly do not recommend.

If you are insistent on using software to help you, use CCleaner. And I
highly recommend staying out of the registry for this. One wrong move or
delete and you could corrupt Vista to where you cannot boot into Windows
and the only way to fix that is to recovery/reinstall Vista which will
wipe out all data.

You sure are ate up with FUD. MSCONFIG is a tool to find
problems, not a configuration utility.

LOL, what do you think the "config" means in MSconfig? Can we say the
word "configuration"?
