And we don't know your OS...

If it's NT5 try:

msinfo32 /category ComponentsDisplay


You may also get some clues from the Resources category.


BTW this sort of diagnosis is off-topic for this newsgroup.
You may get better help from a newsgroup which specializes
in your OS (whatever it it is.)

I'm having the same problem... I'm running windows 98, and its only staying
at 16 colors. and It wont let me change the screen area. I usually use 600 by
800... but its stuck at 640, by 480. I'm using a "Standard PCI Graphics
Adapter (VGA)" <~Thats the type of video card I have in my computer. HELP!
Its driving me crazy.
