I guess for Firefox it would be a great tool, which would probably be
focused more to the retail, end-user, and not the corporate enterprise
customer, for after all, how many small, medium and large customers
actually use a third party browser? Many web-based apps that are ASP
based, etc, run flawlessly under IE, yet to get them to work under
another browser, sometimes just doesn't work. Take a look at OWA for
example. It reverts back to the legacy Exchange 2000 version when not
using IE.
Sometimes I also think these tools can throw off the actual issue when
they indiate a DNS lookup issue, where in reality it could be something
else, such as caching (browser or client side) or if a Proxy is
involved. So I wouldn't *always* take what it says explicitly other
than as an aid in tech supporting the issue. It could also be something
simple as a router that has its MTU set to 1492, which we know causes
issues with browsers. Yep, you can ping it, but the browser can't
display the page, yet something like this tool may simply report it as
DNS issue, which then everyone falls backwards trying to figure it out
because it says it's a DNS issue and not realizing the other factors
involved.
