You can also download individual updates from the Catalog and save to be installed later.
http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/Home.aspx

Click Add button for each update you want to download. Once you have what you want, Click
the "Go To Download Basket" link. Type in or browse to the location where you want the
updates saved to and then Click the "Download Now" button.
Once downloaded, you can then burn them to CD.

How to download updates and drivers from the Windows Update Catalog or from the Microsoft
Update Catalog
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/323166

Search for a download
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/s...displaylang=en

For security and other patches released for a given month :
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sec.../ms##-***.mspx
Replace ## with the two-digit year
Replace *** with the three character month abbreviation

You may wish to provide more detail as to why WU doesn't work on your computer.

| Windows Update doesn't work, and since Microsoft has helpfully taken down the
| Windows Update site, I just get redirected to use the Windows Update program
| on my PC. Which doesn't work. So, is there a website where I can download
| updates manually?

Same here. WU (and connecting to Windows Live services like messenger and
Mail)fails to work and I cannot get it started anymore. So far non of the
presented 'solutions' are successful. So I thought I try and update Vista
manually; again a solution that does not work and redirects me to WU which is
bust... sigh...

[Sure is quiet in here lately; wonder if the web-interface is horked again?]
