In addition to Florian's suggestions, I would also look in Domains and
Trusts, as well as Sites and Services to insure the domain or any
reference of any of the DCs are gone.

Glad you found it! That was one of the reasons I suggested to try
Domains and Trusts. Sorry I didn't further mention about having to dig
for it! Any trusted domain will showup as a possible domain to logon
on to.
