Vista is still in "Beta" therefore no updates

This isn't entirely true. Vista relies on Windows Updates to install legacy
hardware drivers.

According to Carey, Vista doesn't communicate with WU.

So who is right, you or Carey?

Because Windows Vista beta is still in the "beta" stage of development,
it does not communicate with Windows Update since there are no updates.
