You can not downgrade at all. If you want XP instead of Vista, you
will need to buy a copy and do a clean installation of it, from
scratch.

Why MS advertise that buying Vista license you are entitled to downgrade to
XP?
I have heard of people who have done it:
Installed XP with other key, called MS and requested new key for XP and then
activated.
