Hi Michael,

What type and size of drives do you have in the server (ide, scsi - raid
level?)

What type of drives are you wanting to backing up to? (USB?) What
application are you using to back up? (SBSBackup, NTbackup, 3rd party?)

What errors are you getting on backup - if using SBSBackup, go to the backup
page of Standard Management, click on the last backup attempt to view the
log file, and copy/paste the text into a reply.

Summary comments: (they are inline as well)

1. Can you specify the present size of c:, d:, and e: please?

2. It's not obvious how your raid container(s) are configured. Can you
elaborate? (ie. 2 drives raid 1 plus 3 drives raid 5; or what?)
3. What exactly is installed on this drive D:? Have you installed actual
"program files" here?

4. Have you actually got Exchange Program Files (the executables) installed
on E:?

5. The good news is that your backups aren't actually failing - they're
perfectly good but chances are you're archiving some viruses with this IMF
quarantine, and you A/V is preventing backup from accessing the files. You
don't have your A/V exclusions set properly, which is going to be a bit of a
messy process as it appears you might have program files scattered
throughout your system :-(.

6. There's not much point in backing up G: at all, if it's only purpose is
to hold backup files.

7. I suspect the error is due to the locked files.

If you've in fact installed program executables (program files) to other
drives, then this is ..... ahem .... a difficult server. 190 GB on e:? Whew,
what is on here? The backup takes like 10 hours to run.

7. I suspect the error is due to the locked files.
