Question 1: Have you changed anything in your Internet
Explorer setup since yesterday?

Question 2: Are you able to log into other accounts?

Hi there and thanks for your reply.

No I haven't changed any of my settings at all, unless I did something by
accident, but no definitely not. The only two websites I am unable to log
onto are ebay and yahoo. I have tried logging into my hotmail, bank account
and have experienced no problems. I have also tried clearing my temp files
and cache in order to log onto yahoo as this appeared to be causing the
problem the last time it happened (with yahoo only) but it does not seem to
be working this time. I have requested a password but my identity is not
recognised. Its very strange. I also received two different messages
(yahoo) when filling in password request form. 1st message said that the
information I had input on the form was not recognised on their system. The
second time I attempted to complete said form a message saying "For your
protection your email account has been temporarily disabled".

The strange thing is it is my yahoo email address which I used for
corresponding on all ebay transactions and queries (ebay problems too) bit of
a coincidence. Leads me to think that someone may have been trying to access
my account or somehting.

Look forward to hearing your diagnosis.

Thanks

Caz

That was my first thought. Could your account have been
hacked? Anybody been watching over your shoulder lately
while you entered your account info?

Hi there

It appears that my ebay account was hijacked, but this has been resolved.
Still having problems with yahoo though, not sure whether its connected with
the hijack as it wsa the email address which I used for most of my ebay
transactions. Therefore still seeking a resolution to my yahoo problem.

(questions and answers not payments).

Both eBay and Yahoo have departments that deal with security
issues, but you might be better off to abandon the old email
and eBay accounts, use new accounts with secure passwords.
You might also want to contact your bank and CC companies
because they may also be compromised.
try
try account-
mail-
and for starters.

Good luck

Hi Jim and thanks

I now have the ebay situation resolved. I have checked my paypal account
and it seems ok. As regards to yahoo I still need to access this account as
there are a lot of emails I need to see, unless there is a way of
transferring the old info to a new email account.

Contact Yahoo at the email addresses listed below. The
reason I suggest you get a new Yahoo address is that the
hacker has gotten in once and can target you. A Yahoo mail
account is free (you can pay for more services) and to
switch a paid account you need to contact Yahoo.

You can use Outlook Express, Outlook and other mail programs
to send and receive mail from the free Yahoo account using a
free program called YahooPops! from www.sourceforge.net
Google for YahooPops and you'll get the direct link.
