RE: error 0x8004005

Can someone please provide some guidance... I'm also having the same problem
with sound recording device(s) and an error message involving DpvSetup.exe

The realtek update driverthat was sent out recently through windows updates
is messed up somewhere and blocks the microphone from working in Sound
Recorder in Windows XP. You can get your microphone working by rolling back
to the previous driver. Go to control panel, click on sound and audio
devices, click on hardware, then select the realtek audio device from the
list, select properties, select the driver tab and then click on roll back
driver. I 'm sorry I don't know more of an answer than that.

Hi Mark,

Rolling back the driver did it for me! Thank you VERY much. I was going
nuts trying to figure it out with no help from Microsoft that I found. Be
