X-post to WLMessenger newsgroup.

MSN Messenger or Windows Live Messenger?

"Signing in to Windows Live Messenger failed because the services is
temporarily unavailable. Please try again later. Error code 800706b5"

Is the above the complete error message?

I just had the same thing happen to me. Nothing new, no system changes and I
cannot loginto Live Messenger either. Get the same error message. And Outlook
also isn't able to retrieve any mail. But my internet service is obviously
working. I found this post searching on the error message. Sorry to see no
helpful responses.

Hi,

have the same Problem. Before the malfunction of the Messenger appeared, the
NX Protection of the CPU closed the msn thread. So it should be a problem
with the NX bit (no execute).

Searching for a Solution

Hi
I had this message shown, when I tried to install an update - I was told
that the install procedure failed due to the error code 800706B5. It has
happened twice now - one time with some stuff from Sony Ericsson, which I can
survive without, and once with some NETsecurity related, which I would rather
prefer to be able to install! What IS this error - and how do I fix it?

I installed Vista Home Premium on an Acer Notebook that previously ran XP.
The file system on the Acer was changed from FAT32 to NTFS under SP and it
ran Windows Live Messenger without a problem. After loading Vista, I
attempted to reloaded Windows Live Messenger and got the Sony Errickson
information. I am going to uninstall and attempt another install.

I did a system diff and found the "Security update for CAPICOM" via Microsoft
was the problem.

system. Ive tried uninstalling, repairing, running updates...nothing works.
Seeing how this thread dates back to october of '07 I'm suprised there is no
