It would be Messenger, MSN or Windows Live hosts that have to be removed here if the hosts
file were the cause. Anything beyond the standard 127.0.0.1 localhost and ::1 localhost (on
IPv6 enabled Windows versions) should be suspect if one is having difficulty.

Some applications add entries here to try and remove advertising for you, which where a good
chunk of possible entries would come from, on a typical non-business/enterprise machine
anyway.
