[cross post to WLMail newsgroup]

Greetings,

I've cross-posted this to the Mail newsgroup where you will get a better answer. However, I
suspect we'll need to know exactly which mail client you're referring to and whether or not
you want the mail/newsgroup data to come with you.

Personally, on Windows XP and Outlook Express, and Vista and Windows Mail, I used the migwiz
(Start, Run, migwiz) to transfer what I needed from PC to PC.

Unfortunately that's all gone with Windows Live Mail (any OS), so I'm back to exporting my
registry key for Live Mail and copying over the data from my profile to where it needs to go
(passwords don't follow you sadly either).

There may be a better way than that however.

If the only intent is to import the email and newsserver settings from one WLM pc to another, then export each email and news
server to an *.iaf file(servers, accounts settings, usernames and pw are retained)

I recommend you use the free backup/restore program:
http://www.staticbackup.com/windows-live-mail-backup/
http://www.staticbackup.com/downloads.htm

I have used it successfully several times.

To do it manually..
Each mail account and each newsgroup account must be exported , then imported in WLM in Win7
Mail Messages can be dragged to an Windows Explorer folder(e.g. external drive, jump drive) then dragged into WLM on Win7 or using
WLM included option to export/import using (File/Export; File Import Messages)

I looked at Gary's suggestion and guess it wasn't for me;
guess I got to export each mail account / each news server and then use WLM
(Win7) to import them
