Sorry... but you created a problem out of nothing.
My Vista WinExplorer now behaves exactly as WindowsXP - even bettter!

I just spent sevral hours tweaking Vista and specificlaly Explorer settings,
also learned how to start Explorer with certain folders/trees open and
autofocused, etc.
It does take time to learn.
