Use the error code as a search string in files on your harddrive.
Look for readable files, probably .log, .xml, .txt etc.
Then find the context of the error code within the file.
E.g. if it is in a log the context is the timestamp range leading up to it.
Often the reported error code is not as significant as other error codes
you can see in that context.
You can use other information about your failing update in a similar
manner. E.g. update number, module name, etc.
The only concession I might give to performance of the search would
be to limit hits to files which were modified on the day of the update.
E.g. don't necessarily restrict your search to a particlar file type.
