Yea, this is Microsoft's nifty way of inflating the Vista sales
numbers.
"Oh lookey, we've sold umpteen million copies of Vista in the first 25
minutes." Of course, Microsoft doesn't care how many people are
replacing
Vista with XP since they get TWO sales that way.

Why I buy machines with NO OS whenever I can. Then install what I want
on them. Some people have the misguided belief that doing this will
cost
more, but the truth is, you can ALWAYS buy generic systems cheaper
than
the big name OEM stuff. Even with 3 year warranties.

Since Windows XP is still available through some OEMs, large and
small, it seems to be an OEM choice and not Microsoft.
Dell for one, seems to limit Windows XP availability to certain models
and that is a decision made by Dell and not Microsoft.
