Any email or mail folder you delete in Windows Live Mail will be moved
to the Deleted Items folder.

You must have emptied the Deleted Items folder after that first
unwanted deletion. When that happens, the only chance you have
of any recovery is to use a file undelete utility, such as Recuva:

You can try compacting the Windows Live Mail database:
Go to Tools, Options, Advanced, Maintenance, then check the
box for "Compact the database on shutdown every X runs".
Change the X number to 1, then click Close, and close WLM.
It will offer to recover unused disk space (a misnomer), click Yes.
Any improvement afterwards?

If you have a restore point from before you deleted it, you can get i
back with 'Shadow Explorer' (http://www.shadowexplorer.com/). Jus
navigate to the folder and right click on it, then Export

It's probably more productive to look for the individual emails rather
than the folder they were in. If Recuva didn't find a bunch of .eml files,
either they were not really deleted, or else that file space has already
been overwritten by something else. Either way, you don't lose
anything by doing the compaction.

Hi, Judy.

Congratulations on recovering your "lost" folder! ;<)

I haven't seen Gary; VM around lately in the few newsgroups that I still
read nowadays (and I almost never visit Forums). But his advice was always
good and I'm glad to see that it lives on for those who can still find it.

Hooray for us packrats! ;<)
