Hi

To avoid that Automatic Updates tries to install SP2 (up to 16. April
2005):

Toolkit to Temporarily Block Delivery of Windows XP SP2 to a PC
Through Automatic Updates and Windows Update
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

Run the XPSP2BlockerTools.exe in the link above. It will extract
several files to the folder you specify.

Then run XPSP2Blocker.exe to activate the blockage (it will create
the registry value described in the link above).

This way you can still use Automatic Updates to update your computer
but avoid to get SP2 installed (up to 16. April 2005).

SP2 will not be automatically installed even if you have AU set to install -
it will download but will always offer a pop-up message and then a couple of
dialog boxes before installing. You will not find it on your machine unless
you have specifically OK'd it.
