Exact same problem here with V5 windowsupdate and home Xp sp2 and a Almost
new dell.....
NAV and Zone Alarm are not the issue .

Come on MS what's the fix ???

Count me in, I guess.

I wrote earlier in "Brand Spankin new machine". Which it is..out of the box
Dell, olugged into a DSL modem with no other networking.

I successfully updated an indentical machine not an hour before; this one
hiccuped somehow, and winupdate hasn't worked since.

Installed all updates by hand (Baseline security analyzer is happy). But
still no win update.

Hope auto works.
