I agree with Bengie, the Longhorn SDKs for both 32 and 64 bit platforms have
been out since April 2005 released at WinHEC 2005. What in heavens name
could be taking you so long to at least have something half workable by beta
2? I don't think you need Vista RTM to start creating even a buggy device
driver.

Couldn't agree more, although posting here probably isnt going to get the
word out. If you have hardware and there are no Vista drivers yet, go to the
manufactrer's websites and post on their forums, or nag them in emails,
threaten to buy from their competition..if we complain enough they'll have
to do something

The Software industry is fully supporting Vista, yeah right, I don't think so !

What are they all waiting for, I don't think MS is going to scrap Vista at
this late stage of development, so how about the third party software folks
get cracking, it will be Xmas soon, and no compatable third party software,
not good. !

Popular handy free video editors and FX.

Virtual Dub 1.6.14 (no mpeg2 support)
Virtual Dub Mod 1.5.10.2 (mpeg2 support)
Avid Free DV 1.6.1
Virtual Edit Free 1.41
Zein Stein 4.0
Wax 2.0
Video Fun Box 1.10
Magix Movie Editor Silver Free 3.0.4.0 (last free version)

Most don't say on their websites if Vista Beta2 (32bit or 64bit) is
supported, but they should run ok on x86 (32bit) Vista Beta2 v5384.4

I am fedup asking software providers to update their products and websites,
they never do, very slack !

Bones is correct!

I have worked with PC's since they first came out and all the hardware
manufacturers operate the same way. They wait until a new operating system is
out on the retail market before they start testing for support. I have seen
some support not appear for 9 months after the OS is out.

When I asked HP about my PC running on XP when it comes out they told me I
should just buy a new PC instead of trying to run XP on my old one. I did buy
a new PC, and of course it was NOT an HP.

We need to keep asking the manufacturers through the forums, user groups and
email.

I don't need telling twice - I will visit all the sites of the equipment I
have and post my disatisfaction at their lack of progress. If ATI can do it
for their full range of cards then so can the others, there is no excuse. If
I get any response from them I bet it will say they are in development. They
should have been in development 12 months ago. I will let you all know what
I get in reply. It would be nice if some of you would join me in doing so.
Thank you Bones.

I emailed 3Com and never even got a response. Needless to say, I won't be
buying from 3Com.

I know - they are so rude and arrogant some times - just a "No comment" would
at least acknowledge that they received your email.

If I had a product I valued and did not get a response from My Email, I
would send at least one more message preferably using their online form if
available.
It is always possible something got lost somewhere.
