Never, EVER use System Restore to "undo" an update, Service Pack, or IE
upgrade! Intead, uninstall the update, Service Pack, or IE upgrade &
reboot. If that doesn't correct the problem, then try System Restore.
That being said, KB976749 is *not* a critical security update but a "hotfix"
to address two very specific problems that /some/ users have encountered
after installing KB974455 (MS09-054). See

If you have *not* encountered either problem, you do *not* have to install
KB976479.
