If you think you have eliminated add-ons as a cause that would leave
other applications that you run and other software that you have installed.
Time for some clean-boot troubleshooting...

BTW I find it curious that this document does not mention safe mode
booting. E.g. the equivalent documents for other OS do mention it.
I don't use your OS so I don't know if that is an oversight or if something
equivalent is available under a different name.

Oh. I think perhaps the equivalent XP article was called "Advanced
Clean-boot troubleshooting". Probably yet to be written for Vista? <eg>
Perhaps the XP tips can be adapted for Vista use anyway? ; }
