Hi,
The phrase "RipYouTube Video" suggests that you've downloaded software from
http://www.soundtaxi.us/how-to-rip-y...soundtaxi.html
which installed this button. The button is an add-on. It's not a feature of
Internet Explorer. You may not have downloaded everything that you need.
Please read through that page to see if it sheds light on the issue.

Hello Don.
Thank you very much for your reply. It now seems that my problem is
slightly more complicated than I originally thought. I have been
through my "all programs" and my control panel "programs and features"
and there is absolutely no mention of anything even remotely
resembling "sound-taxi". I visited their site through your link and
the software and page and graphics, whatever, do not even ring a vague
bell. So I'm wondering if there is something neferious here. Thanks
again.

Hi,
From IE> Tools> Manage add-ons, disable, one at a time, any add-on which may
have added this button. It may be just one feature of a toolbar which adds
several features. Determining its origin will let you do a better web search
for possible solutions.

Which version of Windows? Has the computer *always* been protected by an
up-to-date antivirus program or security suite?

Don

Hi Don.
I should have mentioned earlier, I am using Vista Home Premium.
I did as you suggested and actually found a rip YouTube addon (control
name is not available). I disabled it and the small icon is gone. My
computer has always been on a anti-virus program which automatically
checks for updates - and installs if it finds any - at 2 am every
night. About a year ago we had an argument at the local university
about whether a certain soprano had ever recorded a certain opera
aria. That evening I visited YouTube and found a recording. That was/
is the only time I ever visited YouTube and I must have done something
obviously wrong. It is expected, I suppose, from old geezers like
me. Thanks again, Don.

YW. Glad the button was ID'd and disabled. Should you decide that you do
want to save youtube videos, a web search should turn up several methods.

Don
