Well, ya know, I never tried it on a lawnmower but when I lived
up in Maine I did install Debian on a snowblower. When I bought it it
actually shipped with Windows 98r2 but I was never completely happy
with the way networking worked. Whenever I tried to plow the front walk
all I ever got was "Network error. Snowblower cannot access \\sidewalk".
Microsoft was no help because they claimed Windows wasn't supported on
powertools with engines larger than 12cc.
So one day I formatted the chain drive and installed Debian. It
actually worked pretty well although I had some trouble getting the self-
starter to work properly. The only problem I wasn't able to solve was an
occasional core dump from the impellor when I turned right but that wasn't
too bad because I could plow the whole house using only left turns.
When I moved back to Texas I didn't have any more snow to plow
so I converted it into a margarita server. Works great, and since there
are no right turns in margaritas it never even dumps core. If I tried
that with Windows it'd probably just sit there and say "Lime juice: no
such mixer or directory".
