Hi,

Intellisync will give you a lot more options in terms of PIMs you can sync
with and various other advanced sync options which is not available in
ActiveSync. But you need to note that Intellisync works over ActiveSync so
you will need ActiveSync to be installed before installing it. As Brian has
suggested, check out the trial version and see if it suits your needs.

Hi,

Intellisync needs ActiveSync and a partnership to be established before you
can use it. Once you install it, you can simply choose to uncheck the
information types under ActiveSync and set them under Intellisync as
desired.

* Could you explain the exact issue you are facing with ActiveSync?
* What information types are you attempting to sync?
* Does it sync any particular information type slowly?

> * Could you explain the exact issue you are facing with ActiveSync?

1. I try and use ActiveSync via Bluetooth or USB and it can take 1 minute
for ActiveSync to notice the connection on my PC. Then, it can take 2-3
minutes to simply sync the Inbox.

> * What information types are you attempting to sync?

I'd like to sync the Inbox, Calendar, Notes, Contacts, and AvantGo each
time. However, when turn off the computer these selections vanish.
Finally, when I run ActiveSync, it completely locks up my PPC (Audiovox
6600) so I can't do anything else.

It's really annoying to have to check my settings each time.

> * Does it sync any particular information type slowly?

It syncs everything slowly. I've tried ActiveSync 3.7 and 3.8 with the same
results.

The computer is running WinXP SP2.

Another thing that keeps happening is that I receive multiple resolve
problems, but ActiveSync doesn't tell me what's wrong or how to correct the
discrepancy. It is really frustrating!

Hi,

You could try performing a soft reset on the device before connecting and
see if it makes any difference. The Outlook items might be sycing slow due
to some corruption in the pst file. Try running the Detect & Repair feature
available under the Help menu in Outlook to scan the pst file.

Additionally, you can also try running the Scanpst utility to check for any
corruption in the PST file (the file that stores your Outlook data). Search
for scanpst.exe on your computer.

You will need to run it against the .pst file. If you are unable to locate
the path of the .pst file, do the following:

1. Open Outlook.
2. Click File -> Data File Management
3. This should list all the PST files that are present. Click Open Folder
and you should find the storage path of your *.pst file.

I have yet to experience the issue you are facing where in the Activesync
settings are lost everytime you turn off the computer. FYI - The
information types chosen under Tools-> Options are stored in the registry
under a key called "Disabled" for every information type:

Registry location ----

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows CE
Services\Partners\*******\Services\Synchronization \Objects

You could try recreating the partnership to solve this problem -

1. Disconnect the PPC from the computer.
2. In Activesync -> File -> Delete Partnership.
3. Connect the device and follow the onscreen
instructions to setup a new partnership.

Identifying Unresolved items can pretty tricky and time consuming. Possible
causes include corrupt pst file. So try the suggestions mentioned earlier.
You might also want to refer to http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=319711.
If none of this help, then sync small amount of information and isolate the
cause.

Raj,

I took you advice. I am not having any problems syncing the items one at a
time. The ONLY issue I'm having now is the Inbox Unresolved Items.
Calendar, Avantgo, Tasks, etc all work without error.

I have no idea how to get rid of this Inbox error.

Hello Jeffrey,

Try the following:

Create a new folder to store mails in Outlook and make sure this folder is
not selected in ActiveSync. Select all mails from your Inbox and move them
to this new folder.

Next connect and sync the device. It should sync without any errors. Now
start moving the mails into Inbox in small sets and allow Activesync to sync
all them and then proceed to move the next set. Once you encounter the
error, you can narrow down the mail. Once you identify move it out or delete
it. In all probabilty this mail(s) might be with an attachment.
