I can take this problem further. After upgrading from RC2 to the final RTM last night, I noticed that the screensaver problem persisted. So, today I returned my MS Wireless Laser Desktop 6000 set to Costco. After returning it, I noticed there was a Desktop 6000 v2 with obvious upgrades to the one I had just sent back. Also, the new box said, "Vista Certified" all over it. I figured, "nice," and bought it. Took it home, and same thing - no screensaver.

I think it's funny how MS acknowledges the vista + screensaver problem here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/911895 but then sells the product as "Vista Certified." In my book, that's false an deceptive advertising.

100% agreed. I saw the same 'Vista Certified' mouse/keyboard combos in Costco
and couldn't believe my eyes! These have a known problem with vista and they
seemingly have no intention on fixing it. This experience has turned me off
to any future microsoft hardware purchases and despite how 'small' this issue
appears to be, I question the integrity of the entire OS if they cannot even
make their own hardware work with their own OS. They have 100% control over
all pieces of this particular problem.

The same Microsoft mouse/keyboard work flawlessly in the APPLE OS. How
ironic is that?!

Jeff

The manufacturers of the MS Desktop sets are responsible for the drivers,
not Microsoft..

First, aaaaargh! Yesterday, I replaced my MS mouse with a Logitech version
because of this (well, that and I hated the keyboard that came with it).
Second, where do you see an updated driver?
http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/mo.../Download.mspx still takes
me to what looks like the same old 6.1 version as before. Or, does it come
down via a Microsoft Update and, thus, I wouldn't see it since I no longer
have the hardware?

I'm trying to cultivate patience. But, I just can't wait that long.

Mike,
Can you provide a link to the correct fix? I just installed IP32Eng and
ITP32Eng for the MS site and still have no funcitional screen saver/power
save.
