If you can't get SP1 for Vista installed, or more importantly SP2 you have
issues unrelated to a router that needs to be solved first. Run various
malware checkers such as Malwarebytes and SpyBot search and destroy to see
if you have been infected. If nothing is found you need to research the
reason behind the SP not being installed properly.
There are some references on the internet to WAN Miniport showing issues
after an uninstall of SP1. Might want to look at that also.
