My windows update tells me that it cannot install the Windows Genuine
advantage.
I tried the installation several times over the last month or so - all
attempts failed and i can see them in the list over installed updates (i
never had any repeated errors updating my windows before and i have a lot of
updates!!!!).
Now i read in one of my newsleeters that windows has released two critical
updates and now i ask: how do i install these updates?? It seems that the
failed installation of Windows genuine advantage stands in the way of
installing further updates.
This is immensely annoying!
I went to a page that valdidates my windows online (i guess..maybe its using
the tool from my pc, but that would mean that the prog HAD been installed and
that the error may be located in the list of updates or somewhere else on
your side(site..) )
this works fine and validates my copy, but i still cant get passed the
failed installation of windows genuine advantage. Can anyone help me - this
is so annoying. I have been all over the windows update to try and manually
download the critical updates for my pc, but just ends up on the usual
automatic updates-page and then the procedure can go on, and on, and
on.....GRRR!
I tried the newsgroups here butr just found some arrogant answers from a guy
called carey frisch apparantly associated with microsoft in some way. Whats
goin on here??? Anyone?
Annoyed greetings

The WGA diagnostic tool has been updated to correct this problem seen by some
customers. Please download and execute it from:

http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012

After running the tool, please return to Windows Update and try it again.

WGA Diag2 does not work for me either although some say it worked for
them. I had one machine failed WGA2 install with an Access Denied
error apparantly because.

Ohhh you gotta lauugh at the sheer incompetence.

The above was from an earlier post. And makes perfect sense, you are l

I fixed mine by removing WGA altogether using an app called
Uninstaller 2004 which removes any application and all its registry
entries but its a bit of a blunt instrument. (you can't get rid of WGA
easilly via windows itself) then re-installed WGA2 manually - it went
in fine and windows now updates as usual. Sledge hammer approach I
know but this was not a critical machine and I wanted an easier way to
do it.

Try the reg fix first its got more finesse other than that try my
approach.

Uninstaller 2004 is here - trial version

I guess I rermoved all of it and then just installed the new version
which was OK.

WGA Diag2 seems about as much sue as a chocolate fireguard.
