hi everyone,
first please be aware that i DID NOT read this whole thread so if i'm repeating something i apologize.
i had the exact problem with this annoying .net frameworks business but i found a solution that worked for me- no fuss no muss- ‘automated tool’ bada-boom. here is the link:

just download and run the "updated version of the .NET Framework cleanup tool " that is linked right on the top of the page.
according to his instructions you should first try to remove everything you can with windows uninstall and then run the tool to get whatever might remain. i would recommend that before running the tool or deleting anything you should look through his various pages on the subject. he seems to really know what he's about with this whole thing and there may be other considerations that apply to your particular case..
i just wanted to post this quick because it was driving me nuts for the longest time and last night i just sat down and got it FINISHED with once and for all!
And that made me happy

.
good luck everyone.
