Re:this subjct. Do the uninstalls, reboots, and reinstall the files exactly
as specified and you will have success. I had the exact same problem and his
procedure resolved it. The only difference I found in his procedure was that
the two KB files were listed as files in the ARP list (beginning MSXLM...),
not under Windows XP - Software Updates (since, I discovered later, that I
did not have the "Show Windows Updates " box checked). Anyway, the procedure
works. I subsequently deleted all of the files the multiple update trials
produced (2 per day over at least 2 weeks) located at the top of my C-drive
file listing.
