[OK, we'll bottom-post and continue the pointless crosspost to OE General
only because you started it]

Is *any* version of MS Office installed right now (e.g., Office 2003)?

Is PowerPoint Viewer, Word Viewer, and/or Excel Viewer installed?

Is Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack or Microsoft Office Compatibility
Pack Service Pack (SP1) listed in Add/Remove Programs?

If your answer is YES to ANY of the above three questions, you need to
install the updates offered.

I don't mince words: If I said you "needed" to install the updates, I didn't
mean you MUST or will be FORCED to install them.

If you want PP Viewer to work properly when viewing PPS/PPT files that were
created in PP/Office 2007 and if you want a computer that's safe to be
connected to the internet, you will install these updates and any other
CRITICAL SECURITY UPDATES that come down the pike.
