I think this could be the same problem I have been having (see Build
8.0.0812.00 now crashes multiple times daily, also on XP SP2). Is msnmgr.exe
using 98 or 99% cpu during this "hang"?

Many thanks,

Victoria

Victoria,

The same thing is happening to me (Messenger just hangs). My CPU does go to
100%. I am using Version 8.0 (Build 8.0.0812.00) Any ideas?

Thanks,

Jason

At last! Thank goodness it isn't just me, much as I would hate to inflict it
on anybody!

This is definitely a problem with either a) repaint after maximise b)
recovery after auto-away status during screensaver or c) advertising that is
refreshed during both these scenarios. Its done it twice to me so far this
morning. It may depend on whether messages have been sent while I am marked
as away, as it seems to happen more often when this is the case.

Am currently losing messages sent by colleagues ... would somebody please
advise me how to get hold of the pre 8.0.812 installation file???

Cheers,

Victoria

Anything specific?

This machine is a Dell Latitude laptop with a 1.73GHz Pentium Mobile
processor and 500Mb of RAM. The other machine I've replicated the problem on
is a Toshiba M series mobile computer with 1Gb RAM (I think) ... will need to
check the processor speed when I get home but its definitely over 1GHz. At
home both machines connect via a wifi network and a standard ADSL router, and
at work the Dell machine connects via a cable connection through a corporate
firewall. I have experienced this problem on both network configurations.

Please let me know if there is anything in particular you're interested in.

Victoria
