Re: MSXML 4.0 SP2 SECURITY UPDATE (KB927978)

Is KB927978 listed in Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel as

MSXML 4.0 SP2 (KB927978) ?

Is KB925672 listed under Windows XP - Software Updates ?

IF yes to both, stop the Automatic Update service to prevent a reprompt
to install KB927978.
Go to Start > Run > type in

net stop wuauserv
Click OK

Uninstall KB927978 first, then reboot.
Delete the contents of WINDOWS\Software Distribution\Download
Uninstall KB925672, then reboot.

Download KB927978 and save it, do NOT run it:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...B-6F18FE6921D4
Go back to Start > Run > type in

net start wuauserv
Click OK

Install KB927978 and then reboot.
KB927978 supercedes KB925672 and renders it obsolete.
