I'M POSTING THIS RELATIVE TO A CLOSED THREAD ON THE TOPIC IN THE SUBJECT
LINE.
=======================
I'm having this same problem, and I appreciate finding the solution,
but I must say whoever at MS designed this Vista64 OS to consider a
desktop that's plugged into wall power the same as a laptop on battery
power just because it has a UPS detected via a USB connection must have
been smoking something that's not legal or be a blooming idiot!

With all due respect, what are you talking about? The only thing I see on
my desktop hooked to a UPS is that the power options now have an "on
battery" section, which they darn well should have so I can power my system
down quickly and automatically if I'm not around to do it when the power
fails. If you see something different, and really do want some help versus
just venting, then please do provide details.
