Yes, I face the same problem too. Once you reboot the PC, the login
information is gone even you checked all the remember the username and
password options.

I had the same problem too, and I fixed it in the following way :

Open the registry (Start Run regedit)

Browse for
HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Explorer/User
Shell Folders

There is a key called AppData. Before I fixed it, its contents was
%APPDATA%. I changed it to %USERPROFILE%/Application Data (which refers to
the folder Application Data in your user folder).

Now my Live Messenger finally remembers my login information (it was making
me maaad). Hope it works for anyone who has the same problem.

Amazingly enough, this worked for me. Why? %APPDATA% points to the same
place as %USERPROFILE%/Application Data.

Dude, I am uber excited. I was days away from removing msn from my machine
and just doing without it.

I made the change and was unable to run Adobe Reader, so I changed the
registry back.

The problem did not occur until after I updated my Yahoo Toolbar. This
could be an attempt by Yahoo to get people to use its messenger rather than
Microsoft's. Did anyone else get this problem after updating Yahoo Toolbar
or any other software?

Firefox and Adobe Reader wouldn't work because of the change.
This is true. However, I fixed it so they work! =D
kschoice tells us to change %APPDATA% to %USERPROFILE%/Application Data.
The problem is very simple. The slash was inccorect. Forward slashes ( / )
aren't right for this. We need to use the backward slach. ( \ ) Keep the
%USERPROFILE%/Application Data, but change the / to \ :
%USERPROFILE%\Application Data
