There clearly are problems related to using ActiveSync with Outlook 2007. I
originally installed ActiveSync on a laptop with Outlook 2002 - worked fine.
Installed 2007 and had loads of problems. I found (and unfortunately since
lost) a very good, step-by-step set of instructions to get it to work (seem
to recall it involved uninstalling eveything - i.e. Outlook and ActiveSync
(and resetting the PDA to factory default) - then reinstalling in a
particular sequence, rebooting at every step.) I then had the laptop stolen
and, while waiting for a replacement, installed ActiveSync on my desktop
which had Outlook 2002 running. Again fine. New laptop arrived, installed
Outlook 2007 and ActiveSync - and this one worked without a hitch. Laptop's
just gone away for warranty repair, tried to reinstall on my desktop (which
now has Outlook 2007) and it won't sync. Or, rather, it says it syncs (even
comes up showing the number of items in Contacts etc. that it's sync-ing and
appears to finish OK) - but when I check, the PDA (an HTC smartphone running
under Mobile 6 in this instance) is still completely empty. Will be
interesting to see if it will sync with the laptop when it comes back after
repair.
