I went ahead and did what I did the last time and it worked.
What I did was uninstall .Net Framework, version 2.0 from add/remove
programs, restarted and then reinstalled .Net Framework, version 2.0 found
below.

After I downloaded it again I went to updates and installed the new update
and it was fine.
Hope it works for someone else too.
Thanks to everyone for different suggestions. It seems what works for one
doesn't necessarily work for another.
