We'll need additional info to better help.
I'm *assuming* you mean you're trying to connect using a mapped drive from
NT to XP, or a simple UNC from NT to XP (\\xpmachine\sharedfoldername?
Can you map a drive or UNC from XP to NT?
As Meinolf requested, error messages and the ipconfigs would be helpful, as
well as if the XP firewall is on.
XP uses SMB (445) by default for connectivity, not NetBIOS (139). Therefore,
with XP, it maybe something as simple as reducing the SMB signing or NTLM
options and requirements in the local security policy.
