Lone Star:
If it were useless, it wouldn't be labeled "important".
Being in the habit of installing all updates to avoid 'reminders', I seem to
have no trouble at all with 'Vista Home Premium', SP2, 32 bit,
and that is with a dial-up connection as well as automatic updating.
The choice of omitting 'useless' updates is totally yours.

Whether it will tie in with other core applications of Vista is your and my
guess,
but it has to be assumed that it does. Therefore I prefer to update and you
are free
to do 'your thing'.
And 'no worries, period'.
