Hi
Because SUS only supports security updates, and 811383 is not a
security update, only a normal hotfix.
Instead, why not use SUS to distribute the latest security update
for IE (it should be available for SUS), it includes the update
that 811383 have.
Microsoft Security Bulletin MS04-025
Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer (867801)
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sec.../MS04-025.mspx
811383 gives you this one:
Date Time Version Size File name
18-Dec-2002 01:20 6.0.2800.1147 588,288 Wininet.dll
(from
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=811383 )
MS04-025/867801 gives you this one:
Date Time Version Size File name
07-Feb-2004 02:05 6.0.2800.1405 588,288 Wininet.dll
(from
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sec.../MS04-025.mspx )
As you see, the build number for MS04-025/867801 (1405) is
higher than the one for 811383 (1147).
Fyi, there is a separate newsgroup for SUS:
microsoft.public.softwareupdatesvcs
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsof...wareupdatesvcs
URL to the group softwareupdatesvcs for those who uses the Web
interface to access the newsgroups:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserv...wareupdatesvcs
A Web site about SUS with a FAQ and a SUS forum:
