Not sure, but one thing I can say, if this is for an Internet app, for the most part zone transfers are disabled by default on many DNS servers, or allowed only to specific Secondaries.

As for a CRC on the data, maybe someone else maybe of better assistance.

Interesting. Good luck. I don't know why you would want to do it this way, but I'm sure you have a good reason. I would probably opt to use netsh or a vbscript to query the customer's machine, or even using the psexec remote tools to run an ipconfig /all on the machine.

Curious... ?

As for CRC checks, that would be better left to a programming pro that I am not.
