I'm trying to install SP2 and keep receiving the message c:/ntldr is open.
What do I need to do to resolve this so I can load SP@?

I am having the same problem. It appears the down load has been completed but
when it tries to install the Welcome to the Windows XP Service Pack 2 Set up
Wizard screen comes up and its like two different installations are happening
at the same time... hence the "The file C:\ntldr is open or in use by another
application.
from there you can retry,,, which doesnt work. or you can simply forget it.
I hope we both get some help on this! Good luck!

Did you ever get any useful response on this problem?
I have the same problem trying to update w2000 with sp4.

I can find nothing on this within the Microsoft knowledgebase.

Any help would be appreciated.

Did you get any help? I am in same position and can find nothing that gives
a clue as to how to solve it.

Hi there,

Maybe you can try this- if you have not already done so, download the
stand-alone version of the SP2 installer from
http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...35-SP2-ENU.exe

and save it to a known place on hard disk;

- run "msconfig", select "Diagnostic Startup" and re-boot Windows;

- run the SP3 installer from the place you stored it on hard disk;

- run "msconfig" to re-select "Normal Startup" and reboot Windows.

Best regards,
Michel Denie
