Hi Blenky,

Thank you for posting in SBS newsgroup. Also thanks for Lanwench's input.

From the description, do you mean you have configured offline file on your
laptop and you modify some files when you are at home and you need to click
the offline synchronize icon to sync the files when you are back to office
and connect to SBS? If I have misunderstood your concerns, please do not
hesitate to let me know.

To narrow down the problem, would you please help me collect if the issue
still occurs if you configure a test file to be offline and then make the
laptop offline and then change the test file and connect it to network
again?

As I know, offline Files do not automatically synchronize subfolders by
default. To get the sub folders automatically available offline, we need to
set the "Subfolders Always Available Offline" policy. Please refer to the
following KB article:

262090 Synchronizing Offline Folders Does Not Synchronize Subfolders
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=262090

If it is not the scenario, to narrow down the problem, would you please
help me collect the following information?

1. Have you seen the files been synchronized on SBS successfully?
2. Does the situation occur on other client?
3. Are you using local profile or domain profile?

Also I provide the following steps of using offline files.

1. Configure your computer to use offline files. To do so:

1) Click Start, and then click My Computer.
2) On the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
3) Click the Offline Files tab.
4) Select the Enable Offline Files check box, and then click OK.

2. Make files or folders available offline. To do so:

1) Click Start, and then click My Computer.
2) Click My Network Places.
3) Double-click the network place that contains the folder or file that you
want to make available offline.
4) Right-click the file or folder that you want, and then click Make
Available Offline. The Offline Files Wizard starts. Click Next to continue.
5) Select the Automatically synchronize the Offline Files when I log on and
log off my computer check box, and then click Next.
6) Select the Create a shortcut to the Offline Files

In addition, I provide the following KB articles for your reference.

|
| 1) I never used the word frequent.
|
| 2) We use offline files because it is deemed critical that users have
| access to their files in the event of ANY file server down time.
| Offline files accomplishes that.
|
| 3) Nothing in the event logs.
|
| I was hoping to find out that there was something I was missing. It
| seems that sometimes it automatically syncs and sometimes it does not.
| It so happens I notice it more often (outside of any server issues)
| because I am on a laptop and am in and out of the office frequently.
|
| Thanks,
| Sean
