Oh God!!......sorry I also have an Acer that came with XP and qualified for
the "free" VistaPremiumUpgrade and had a slight Vista problem with it.I
finally just got ****ed off and redid the damn thing. If you can still
access the OS I would suggest you save all of your work and then do a
Restore to when 1st bought.
Might I also suggest what I did...I went and bought an External Hard Drive
and Enclosure that connects via USB and the Program Acronis True Image.
With it I created an Emergency Boot Disk and then Imaged the Acer HD to the
External HD. I do this about every 3 days.
The Boot disk will start the system running Acronis and from there you can
restore the Image back to the original HD.
The program will also Image to DVD ....or back up incrementally to DVD.
This has ...so far...saved my bacon once.
I wish you luck..but if it was me I'd wipe it and reinstall
