Hi,

If the chips are faulty, there's not much you are going to be able to do.
Something that works for the more hardware-inclined is to purchase another
drive of the same make/model and swap the circuit boards.

Not all circuit boards for disk drives of the same Make/Model are the same
since the drives may have different internal component revisions or number
of platters and the circuit boards are different to account for the internal
differences.
