Regardless of anything Microsoft says Vista is less stable with regard to
monitor settings, color profiles and such ilk.
If you rely on monitor calibrated color managed image processing then you
have to specifically check that your monitor profile is up and running
before every Photoshop session as many warning screens, like the useless
UAC, can unload the monitor profile.
Yesterday I upgraded the ATI Radeon drivers on my dual boot XP/Vista quad
core uber machine.
The XP side installed faster and when rebooted nothing on the desktop
changed.
The Vista side took half again as long to process the upgrade and when
rebooted had scrambled all the desktop icons.
Microsoft will blame this on the ATI driver but it really has to do with how
Vista resets itself after the driver update.
